Bottles and conveyor belts don’t mix well. Conveyor belts are great for boxes, trays and items with flat sides with a low center of gravity. Where they fail is with curved objects. The jerky nature of the conveyor presents a problems far as bottles are concerned. The threat of breakage stresses cashiers and shoppers alike. While the cataclysmic event of breakage is rare, the emotional and psychological effects on cashiers and shoppers are real. The stories of breakage are legend among cashiers as they vividly recall the resulting mess and distress. “Distress” may seem dramatic but one only has to watch a cashier and their nervous attention paid to the customer as they stand or lay their bottles on the belt. This, while the shopper hovers over the bottles concerned by tipping or rolling. Most cashiers interviewed confess to hating it when people buy wine; it slows them down. It’s time to eliminate the anxiety in the checkout process.
The Bottle Mat provides a secure cushioned holder, effectively cradling all manner of bottles, be they wine, 2-liter, or salad dressing and condiments. The benefits of the Bottle Mat don’t stop at the conveyor. It provides a safe and stable platform in shopping carts, baskets, automobile seats or floorboards, refrigerator shelves and kitchen countertops.
